The automaker is leveraging generative AI and digital simulation across its entire production pipeline—from initial design and engineering to testing and manufacturing—to hit a scheduled launch in December 2026.
This shift in pace marks a significant departure from the previous generation’s lifecycle, which spanned roughly 55 months. For the Japanese automotive giant, this is more than an efficiency exercise. The V37 generation of the iconic sports sedan has remained largely unchanged since its initial release in November 2013, making this overhaul a critical component of the company's broader recovery strategy.
Skyline as a Symbol of Revival
The announcement follows Nissan's initial disclosure of the project in April 2026. The company teased a design language inspired by the "Hakosuka," the legendary nickname for the third-generation Skyline. Within Nissan’s corporate structure, the Skyline falls under the "Heartbeat" category, a designation reserved for models that define the brand’s engineering prowess and performance heritage.
Ivan Espinosa, President and CEO of Nissan, identified the upcoming model as a highly anticipated nameplate essential to the company’s current transformation.
