Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford, handing Manchester United another difficult day. For Manchester United, the mistakes proved costly at Old Trafford. Bournemouth won 3-0, and team team players rated by BBC Sport showed how the visitors made the most of their chances while United struggled to recover.

United captain Bruno Fernandes started on the bench under manager Michael Carrick and remained there throughout the match. Bournemouth secured the win, their third at Old Trafford in four years, according to BBC Sport.

The ratings point to a sharp contrast: three Bournemouth players received 8, while United goalkeeper Senne Lammens was given 4 after a major error on the visitors’ third goal.

That margin matters beyond the scoreline. United’s defensive mistakes contributed to Bournemouth’s goals, and the ratings suggest the hosts had few players able to turn the match around. For Bournemouth, the performance offered a clear reward for taking advantage of those openings.

Team team players rated: Bournemouth’s top marks

Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson each received 8 from BBC Sport. Rayan scored Bournemouth’s opener with a first-time finish and, according to the assessment, should have added another. He had found space around Diogo Dalot early on, though his initial opportunities did not bring a goal.

Tavernier also earned an 8. He could not pick out a teammate with some crosses, but finished Bournemouth’s second goal from close range. Evanilson completed the scoring with what BBC Sport described as a brilliant finish. The forward had also come close earlier and had a goal ruled out for offside.

Justin Kluivert and Adrien Truffert each received 7. Kluivert’s free-kick created the opening goal, while Truffert capitalised on a mistake by Leny Yoro to help set up the second.

There was little pressure on Bournemouth goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic for much of the match, BBC Sport said, before he turned away an effort from Bryan Mbeumo. Petrovic received 6. Defenders Antonio Silva, Lewis Cook and Tyler Adams each earned 7, with the ratings describing Silva as in control and Cook as effective in midfield.

United errors shape the ratings

Lammens received 4 after his error for the third goal. Yoro was rated 5: he made a vital clearance earlier but later slipped, allowing Bournemouth to score their second. Ayden Heaven also received 5 after a yellow card led to the free-kick from which Bournemouth scored the opener.

United’s attacking players had limited success. Bryan Mbeumo received 6 after threatening with efforts in both halves, while Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot were rated 5. Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Amad Diallo each received 4. Tielemans came off at half-time; Matheus Cunha replaced him and received 6.

BBC Sport rated Harry Maguire 6 after he blocked an early chance from Rayan and pushed forward to help United attack. Lisandro Martinez, who replaced Heaven, also received 6. The changes did not produce a consolation goal: Joshua Zirkzee, rated 5, could not find the net after coming on for Carlos Baleba.

Fernandes was among the unused substitutes, alongside Darlow, Mazraoui, De Ligt and T Fletcher. The result left United with a three-goal defeat at home, while Bournemouth took all three goals from a match in which the visitors’ leading ratings were 8.
