CNET reports that a number of manufacturers are running promotions alongside Amazon’s October Prime Day, giving buyers more price options for getting started with 3D models. This Prime Day brings discounts on 3D printers, accessories and other gear, including up to $250 off the Bambu Lab H2D.

The deals CNET lists include the Prusa Core One Plus at $1,317 with a $232 saving for Prime members, the Anycubic Photon Mono 4 at $180 after a $60 discount for Prime members, and the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo at $399 with $50 off. Prices and terms vary by product.

The discounts could lower the cost barrier for people who want to try 3D printing. But the right machine depends on needs: CNET highlights resin printers for small models and devices with larger print areas for more ambitious projects.

Prime Day offers choices from resin to multicolor

CNET calls the Prusa Core One a CNET Lab Test winner and says the model is sold fully assembled at $1,317 for Prime members. The publication describes the printer as the most accurate its writer has tested, though not the cheapest.

The Snapmaker U1 won an Editors’ Choice award. Its four print heads support multicolor printing, and CNET rates the small amount of wasted material as a strength of the device.

For buyers seeking a more affordable option, CNET names the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo as its budget printer pick. The review says the quality is very good and the device brilliant for the price, but finds the software less satisfying.

The technology also matters. The Anycubic Photon Mono 4 uses resin, which CNET says is harder to handle than filament. It is relatively small and easy to set up, so it can suit limited spaces, but CNET cautions that adequate ventilation is needed.

Big discount for large-scale projects

The Bambu Lab H2D is aimed at users who want to make larger projects. CNET notes its print area measures 350 by 320 by 325mm and says the device has two nozzles. It costs more than entry-level printers, but buyers can save $250 in the deal cited.

For a gift or first-time use, CNET also rates the Spark i7 as an option. Its writer says the small model is easy to use and priced under $200, leaving room in the budget to buy filament.

Printers are not the only items in the promotion period. CNET says tablets, TVs, laptops, headphones and Lego are also among the deals, while a number of manufacturers are running their own discounts.

Prime membership is required for some of the prices shown. CNET says shoppers can start a 30-day free Prime trial to buy Prime Day deals without paying a subscription fee, while the Bambu Lab H2D discount is listed at $250.
