Celta and Málaga Draw 1-1 at Balaídos as Aspas Picks Up Injury
Adrián Niño's 84th-minute equalizer earned Málaga a 1-1 draw at Celta after Ferran Jutglà had put the hosts ahead. Iago Aspas came off the bench and was later injured.

BALAÍDOS — Adrián Niño's 84th-minute equalizer earned Málaga a 1-1 draw at Celta on Sept. 13, 2026, cancelling out Ferran Jutglà's opener and leaving the hosts still without a win.
Celta now have four points from six games, all from draws. Málaga have also yet to win since returning to the top flight and have three points.
Jutglà's goal was not enough
Jutglà gave Celta the lead in the 40th minute, and the home side had chances to extend it after the break. The striker admitted as much.
"We had a couple of chances in the second half to go further ahead, and I missed one. We have given away a point," Jutglà said.
Málaga pushed higher in the closing stages and forced Celta deeper. Niño, reported AS, met the ball from a corner and beat Radu to level the score.
Málaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero said the match could be read several ways. "It was a game with many readings. We were better at the start. Then they were better, and in the second half we found it hard. We kept pushing, despite not having our best day," he said.
What it means for both sides
Dropping two points at home is costly for Celta. They have gone six games without a win, and this was another match in which they led and could not close it out.
Málaga, coached by Juan Funes, stay 17th with three points after a difficult start. They held on, waited for an opening and took it from a set piece.
There was bad news for Celta as well. Claudio Giráldez sent on captain Iago Aspas for Jutglà, and Aspas almost scored with a shot that nearly found the corner, but AS reported that he later picked up an injury.
Yoel Lago was booked in the 26th minute, and Berrocal made his debut at center-back in place of Salinas.
